a

The project’s objectives include:

1Encouraging public libraries to set up local creativity clubs – spaces where people can create and experiment with the use of various kinds of technologies available there

2Encouraging libraries to develop their educational activities by introducing or enhancing new learning and teaching methods, such as experimentation, hands-on learning, learning through play, the project method, teamwork, development of learners’ creative potential.

3Providing libraries with financial support, knowledge and resources that are needed to set up a creativity club, developing librarians’ competences in the area of various kinds of educational activities.

4Testing multiple organisational models for creativity clubs operating in libraries, such as makerspace, or similar space where people can create and experiment with the use of various kinds of technologies available there.

5Collecting best practices, experiences, conclusions and recommendations in ordert to expand the project scale.

6Promoting the library as a space where various user groups can create together, experiment, collaborate, learn through creation and play and thus to increase the local capital of their communities.

WHAT IS THE CREATIVITY CLUB?

LIBRARIES PARTICIPATING IN THE PROJECT

In our project we define the creativity club as a space run by a library alone or in cooperation with another institution or organisation, where people can create together and experiment with the use of various kinds of technologies available there.

Within this initiative we refer to ideas of maker movement and the concept of ‘makerspace’ – publicly available spaces where people come to meet and use tools and resources available there, in order to learn through experimentation and play, collaborate and create together as well as to carry out their own projects, share knowledge and solve problems. The ‘creativity club’ may be a makerspace-like place, but also any other creative space in the library where various organisational models can be adapted depending on the needs of the given community.
You can find out more about how such spaces in libraries here: Starting a makerspace in the library.
